Bamboo Initiative

Bamboo is among the most environmentally friendly resources provided by nature. As a type of grass, it can be continually harvested without harming the ecosystem, all while meeting various human needs. At Coop Forest, every part of the mature bamboo plant is put to use: the culm is treated and crafted into furniture, the leaves are incorporated into organic manure, and the branches serve as biomass to generate biochar. Uniquely, bamboo here is also used to create bamboo salt, known for its health benefits, and bamboo charcoal, which functions as a natural purifier across multiple applications. Additionally, bamboo in Coop Forest is ingeniously repurposed to produce eco-friendly nails, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional metal fasteners.

At Coop Forest, we’ve redefined green and eco-conscious architecture by introducing bamboo-crete—a sustainable blend that harnesses the natural strength and elegance of bamboo with the durability of concrete. This innovative material allows us to construct resilient structures that remain environmentally responsible. Every roof in Coop Forest is crafted entirely from bamboo, not only for its sustainability but also for its natural ability to provide insulation and shield against the intense heat typical of Dharmapuri’s rugged terrain. Bamboo is at the heart of our design philosophy—everything from our windows, beds, stools, chairs, to stands is thoughtfully crafted from bamboo, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable living at every level.
